15 months and Kansas City

Wyatt is now 15 months old.  He is walking everywhere and talking all the time.  He has over 20 words (probably 30 now, I need to count) that he uses independently, some of the newest being: nigh-nigh (night night), bite, brrr (because it is cold outside), ride (sounds like "lie" - he wants to be pushed on his riding toy), light, yummy, mmm, seat, and car.  He makes vroom vroom car sounds and says "boom" when he throws a ball.    He will "read" books to himself, pointing at things and saying the words when he knows them.  In the car on our road trip I kept hearing him say "bite" (when he wasn't hungry).  He was looking at a book and pointing to a place setting of plastic kids silverware.  I may be biased, but I think he is super smart!

We just got back from a little road trip to Kansas City, Missouri.  We were there for their coldest day so far this year!  When Wyatt and I walked a few blocks to go get breakfast Saturday morning it was 10 degrees outside.  Brr! (I think that is when he learned that word)

We had fun at the Science City there.  It is a children's museum located in Union Station there in Kansas City.
View from our hotel room balcony.

Union Station - this is where the Science City was located.

Science City - making music with Daddy.

Right before they closed checking out the ball floating in the air - anyone else know what principle explains this phenomenon :)

In Union Station - what a beautiful old building.  They still have Amtrak there.

With Daddy in Union Station.

Going "nigh-nigh" on the skywalk between Union Station and the Crown Center shopping mall.  Silly boy!

They had a tea store in the mall and this was what I came away with - yeah!  The owner who was helping us actually has a farm in China where they grow this tea, and he spends three months of the year in China on the farm and the rest of the time in the United States running his store.  There were pictures up from the tea farm and he was in several of them.  They specialize in white tea.

Justin only had Saturday afternoon after his conference was over for us to do any fun activities, so the Science City and the Crown Center shopping mall were the only tourist things we really did.  We did eat some yummy barbeque Friday night, which was nice.  The hotel we stayed in was the Intercontinental - and it was really nice.  (What is it though about really nice hotels having no free extras like WiFi, breakfast, parking, etc.)  One of the valet men even remembered my name and would greet me each time he held open the door for me to take Wyatt out in the stroller.

Ten hours or so of travel (including stops) is a long drive for a little guy!  Wyatt did great though.  He managed to be pretty happy both trips until the last hour or so.  We were all glad to get home though, when it was all over.

We had one little adventure still to come.  Wyatt decided to take a nose dive into the bath tub at Grandma and Pawpaw's house on our way home (we stopped there to pick up our dogs).  I was filling the tub for his bath and he was leaning over to feel the water when, SPLASH, in he went.  No damage was done, but hopefully he will be a little more cautious next time.  Ever since he fell face first down the front porch steps he is very cautious with steps and waits to have someone's hand before he walks down them.  I guess there is a silver lining to nearly everything, even all the bumps and scrapes.

Fort Worth Botanical Gardens

Wyatt and I went to the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens before my tutoring session last Thursday (February 16, 2012) and took some cute photos.

 Smelling the flower!

You notice he had the ball the entire time we were there.  (He is holding it in the first picture too - you just can't see it).  Maybe I will have a soccer playing boy.

Then we went back today (February 22, 2012) with a bunch of friends and let the kids play (and I also took plenty of photos).

Parker had just given Wyatt the ball (so sweet).

Looking at the water and the fish.  He wanted to touch it so badly, but couldn't reach (even when he laid down flat on his belly like he tried later).

Wyatt's friend Max.

Wyatt's friend Graham - he kept his Mom busy chasing him as he explored everywhere - especially when he was checking out the water.

Wyatt's friend Jaxon kicking the ball.

He has the Parker squint (that would be Parker his mother's side of the family, not his friend Parker).

Wyatt and Parker in the hollow "tree trunk".

 Parker running.

Hugs.  Awww!  I actually have at least three photos from three different hugs.  This was the last one and they both fell over afterward.

 Mrs. Christine with the boys.

Playing with Jack and Zach.

We are so thankful for all this beautiful weather.  It is hard to believe how hot it was this morning and it is only February.

Christmas time

Playing in the kitchen with Mama's pots and pans.

At Christmas at Great Aunt Jan's and Great Uncle Billy's (McGilvray Christmas).

He thinks there should be a "puppy" through the fence - but there isn't.

Opening presents at Granny and Grandaddy's on Christmas Eve.

Opening with Daddy at Granny and Grandaddy's house Christmas Eve. (He enjoyed opening the packages - and when he saw a toy he would say "please" because he wanted us to get the toy out for him to play with.)

Christmas morning at home getting a riding toy from Santa.

Opening his stocking from Santa.  The baseball was a big hit.

Christmas with "The Greats" (my grandparents) in Sulphur Springs.

Christmas with "The Greats" in Sulphur Springs.

Still in Sulphur Springs - trying on Uncle Bret's cowboy boots.

Christmas at Grandma and Pawpaw's on New Year's Eve.

Lot's of Christmas celebrations and lots of fun family time.  Thanks everyone for all the wonderful gifts!  Wyatt is having a blast playing with his new toys.

Beginning Blogger

Well, I love to read the blogs of several of my friends (even though I see them regularly), and I want to keep a record of Wyatt and his development - so I decided to take the plunge and join the world of bloggers.  We'll see how it goes!
